Is there something you wish everyone knew about being a librarian?  Like maybe we’re not all bun-donning-sensible-shoe-wearing ladies garbed in black cardigans cradling a cat waiting to shush the first person who violates the “No Talking” policy.*  Or, maybe, we do go to college for this.  And, no, we don’t sit around reading books all day.

But I digress.  Sort of.

If there’s something you wish everyone knew about being a librarian and you are a librarian, there’s a writing contest out there for you.  It’s sponsored by Smart Poodle Publishing, who feel that “librarians are sometimes under appreciated or misunderstood.”  Well, now’s your chance to help Smart Poodle Publishing clear up any misconceptions about librians and librarianship.  And they’re offering prizes:

  • 1 Grand Prize winner will receive $500
  • 2nd Place winner will receive $100
  • 3rd Place winner will receive $50

All three winning entries will be posted on Smart Poodle Publishing and may be published elsewhere online or in print.

Catwoman was a librarian...

Catwoman was a librarian...

*I know I just whipped out just about every librarian stereotype, but I figured I’d say it before someone else does.  Because I truly like to think of myself as more of a Catwoman type librarian a la Halle Berry than the shushing type a la Marianne.  But, whatever.
